Where the name comes from
A legacy of kindness, resilience and service.
MaCHO was established in honor of Haja Kadijatu Jalloh, the grandmother of our founder. Her life and values shaped the organization’s commitment to care with dignity. The name Manak honors the village she cherished.
We also honor Mr. Bernard A. Conteh-Barrat, an executive director of a nonprofit organization in Sierra Leone whose example of community leadership continues to guide our work.

What guides us
A healthier future, built with communities.
Our mission is to improve health equity in Sierra Leone by expanding access to high-quality, compassionate healthcare and implementing sustainable community-based programs that reduce preventable illness and improve long-term health outcomes.
- Compassion
Care with empathy, dignity and respect. - Integrity
Honest, transparent stewardship of every gift. - Accountability
Measurable impact and continuous improvement.

The long view
The goal is not to come back every year.
It is to build care that is already there: a permanent clinic, stronger referral networks, trained community health volunteers and durable programs that help communities flourish.
Your support makes this possible.
Together, we can reach more villages and save more lives.
